| Project area is called Dodan Alupotha estate, located in Arawa GN division in Redeemaliadda DS division of Badulla district. Over 200 acres spreads over a range of elevation ranging from 200 to 240m an msl.The project area is bounded by Loggal Oya from the west. Two streams originating from the fountains located in the site run through the land and join to Loggal Oya. Landscape is plain with frequently found valleys. Climatologically the project site is within the intermediate low country 2 (IL2) regions. The mean annual rainfall is between 1000 and 2500 mm. |

People living around the project site depend on cultivations. These farmers cultivate paddy and corn under the rain fed condition. They use modern practices such as machinery, improved varieties, agro-chemicals, chemical fertilizer etc. There living standard is not in a satisfactory level. Some of them are doing bricks industry during the dry season. |
